Accordia has been selected by WRAP to offer certification monitoring to the pilot UCEC program.  UCEC is a jointly developed certification program that is the result of joint efforts between WRAP and Wal-Mart Corporation that recognizes suppliers and manufacturers that operate under ethical, lawful and humane conditions.

UCEC is in a pilot stage that began in September 2005 and is limited in its scope.  WRAP and Wal-Mart have partnered to conduct a pilot program with factories that produce Wal-Mart product in the following ten countries – China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, India, Guatemala and El Salvador.

Companies that supply Wal Mart and who also wish to be certified to UCEC satisfy both WRAP and Wal-Mart requirements for social compliance may reduce the overall cost of audits as well as cut the frequency and interruption of operations that monitoring creates.
